Eastleigh Borough
Council employs a Youth Development Officer who is
experienced in working with young people, is a trained smoking
cessation advisor and Tier 2 Drugs & Alcohol trained.
The Youth Development
Officer's role is to provide young people with information and
support on a range of health issues and a signposting service to
sources of further help. One of the YDO's responsibilities is
to deliver an early intervention and education service for young
people on the issue of young people and substance and alcohol
misuse.
The service is offered at young
people's venues across the Borough. For details see section
below.
In addition to working directly
with young people, the Youth Development Officer also
works closely with other agencies to improve young people's
services in Eastleigh.

RU Bothered? Young Peoples Tier 2
Drugs & Alcohol Brief Intervention & Education Service
This service is for any young
person in Eastleigh borough between 13 - 19 years old that may be
affected by alcohol or substance use.
The aim of the service is to
provide free and confidential targeted education, prevention and
early intervention for young people at risk of substance and
alcohol misuse. The aim of this service is to:-
- develop understanding and
knowledge around alcohol & substance use
- provide brief interventions
- reduce harm associated with
alcohol & substance use
Referral to this service can be
done through self referral, drop-in at three young peoples health
drop-in clinics, schools and colleges, Connexions, Youth Service,
Anti Social Behaviour Officer, Police or any other agency.
