Drugs are a part of our
society, according to the British Crime Survey "31% of adults aged
16-59 in England and Wales have used illegal drugs at least
once.
Often the word 'drugs' can
conjure up fear and dread in many people's minds, but often this is
because people feel they don't know enough about the subject. If
this is the case then the best course of action is to get
informed!
The term 'drugs' covers a large
number of very different substances, these can include legal drugs
such as alcohol, tobacco and solvents as well as illegal drugs like
cannabis, cocaine and heroin.
There are many sources of
information on drugs available on the internet, telephone and
television. Sometimes the accuracy of information on the internet
is questionable and knowing what to look for is difficult.
Drug and Alcohol Information Pack
A new drug and alcohol information pack is available for
parents and carers living in Eastleigh Borough. The pack
answers lots of popular questions that adults ask local services
such as:
"Should I get a drug
testing kit?"
and
"How can I stop my child
using drugs?"
Up to date information covering many of the common legal and
illegal drugs is included. The pack also contains a directory
of national and local organisations that can offer help and advice
on both drug and non-drug related issues.
The pack is small and discrete and is free of charge.
You can order a pack by sending your name and address to
DrugsandDrink@etvspct.nhs.uk or
by telephoning 02380 747 429.
